Customizable Home Elevators in Cape May, NJ
Inclinator® has specialized in creating accessible homes while respecting architectural heritage for almost a century. By providing home elevators in Cape May, we help property owners retrofit Victorian treasures and modern condominiums. Whether you own a Queen Anne Victorian on Columbia Avenue, a Second Empire home near Congress Hall or a modern condominium in Wildwood Crest, we deliver safe, reliable accessibility.
All Inclinator elevators are built to meet ASME A17.3-2016 safety standards for residential elevators. You can also enjoy the following benefits:
- Historic preservation expertise: Our compact elevator designs integrate into historic properties while maintaining period details, ornate woodwork and architectural integrity that defines the Historic District.
- Space-efficient design: Victorian homes often feature narrow floor plans and limited closet space. Our residential elevators require minimal square footage, fitting into existing structures without extensive modifications.
- Property value protection: A properly installed elevator enhances accessibility while preserving the historic features that make Cape May properties valuable, appealing to buyers who appreciate both heritage and modern convenience.
Our Five-Step Process
The following straightforward process is how we take a residential elevator from design to installation:
Step 1: Consultation & Planning
- Homeowner: Contact your local dealer and share any existing home plans or project details, whether you’re retrofitting a Victorian home in the Historic District, updating a property near the Washington Street Mall or installing an elevator in a Wildwood Crest condominium.
- Dealer: Conduct an onsite consultation (or architectural drawing review) to recommend the best drive system and hoistway layout for your Cape May area property.
Step 2: Design Selection & Quote
- Homeowner: Select your design finishes, including cab style, gates and accessories that work beautifully in Cape May’s Victorian architecture or modern coastal condominiums.
- Dealer: Provide a quote based on your specific selections.
Step 3: Technical Drawings & Permits
- Homeowner: Review and approve hoistway drawings with your contractor and secure necessary Cape May building permits and Historic Preservation Commission approval (if applicable).
- Dealer: Create hoistway drawings with all necessary requirements, and review with homeowner and contractor.
Step 4: Construction & Inspection
- Homeowner: Have hoistway built by your contractor to match approved hoistway drawings – including flush door requirements and specifications that respect Cape May’s historic architecture or modern condominium construction standards.
- Dealer: Coordinate with contractor during construction phase to ensure hoistway is being built per the drawing requirements and inspect hoistway after completion.
Step 5: Installation & Handoff
- Homeowner: Attain completed permit paperwork (if applicable), and attend the final review to learn how to operate and maintain your new elevator.
- Dealer: Install elevator, perform safety testing, demonstrate proper operation and ensure that applicable elevator permit requirements have been satisfied.

What Our Customers Are Saying
Our Elevator Customization Options
Choose from design finishes that honor Cape May’s Victorian heritage or complement contemporary interiors:
Walls
Get hardwood paneling in period-appropriate species that match the original millwork in Victorian homes. Factory finishing is available, or you can request unfinished wood for on-site staining.
Flooring
Our commercial-grade laminate flooring replicates the grain patterns of traditional hardwoods. Unfinished oak can be custom-finished to blend seamlessly with your current flooring.
Ceilings
Our 100 cabs come with white laminate ceilings, while we offer wood-grain ceilings for the 200, 250, 300 and 400 cabs for Victorian-era craftsmanship. Model 500 comes with an acrylic dome that fits modern aesthetics.
Handrails
We offer flat wood rails that suit traditional interiors. Our rounded metal rails — oil-rubbed bronze, brushed brass or brushed stainless — work in both historic and contemporary settings.
Lighting
We include two LED lights, and you can expand to four fixtures as needed. You can also configure your own lighting setup.
Control Panels
We have three metal finishes available. Oil-rubbed or brushed bronze hardware complements Victorian fixtures, while brushed stainless steel suits modern design.
