They are totally dedicated to their customers, their communication is amazing, and they are so nice! We would definitely recommend Inclinator Company of America!
The original U.S. home elevator company, providing Germantown, MD, with space-saving, code-compliant elevators for nearly a century.
Benefits of Custom-Sized Elevators for Homes
We are the original home elevator company, and our mission is practical access for every household. We build elevators to fit the home so everyone can move independently and age in place. With our elevators, you can expect:
- Safe mobility: Standard safety measures include emergency stops, door interlocks and gate monitoring, with additional options based on the drive system.
- Better resale value: A home elevator broadens market reach to buyers focused on accessibility for themselves and their families, now and in the future, a valuable feature for properties in the competitive Montgomery County market.
- Space efficiency: Cabs max out at 15 square feet — well within regulatory limits — and require far less area than a typical interior staircase.
The Process of Home Elevator Installation
Your local Germantown-area dealer will work with you through planning and installation in five straightforward steps, which include:
Step 1: Consultation & Planning
- Homeowner: Contact your local dealer and share any existing home plans or project details.
- Dealer: Conduct an onsite consultation (or architectural drawing review) to recommend the best drive system and hoistway layout for your space.
Step 2: Design Selection & Quote
- Homeowner: Select your design finishes, including cab style, gates, and accessories.
- Dealer: Provide a quote based on your specific selections.
Step 3: Technical Drawings & Permits
- Homeowner: Review and approve hoistway drawings with your contractor and secure necessary permits (if applicable).
- Dealer: Create hoistway drawings with all necessary requirements, and review with homeowner and contractor.
Step 4: Construction & Inspection
- Homeowner: Have hoistway built by your contractor to match approved hoistway drawings – including flush door requirements.
- Dealer: Coordinate with contractor during construction phase to ensure hoistway is being built per the drawing requirements and inspect hoistway after completion.
Step 5: Installation & Handoff
- Homeowner: Attain completed permit paperwork (if applicable), and attend the final review to learn how to operate and maintain your new elevator.
- Dealer: Install elevator, perform safety testing, demonstrate proper operation, and ensure that applicable elevator permit requirements have been satisfied.

What Our Customers Are Saying
Tailor Your Design
We offer personalization options for our cab choices, which we can do in-factory, or you can request that they remain unfinished for your contractor to complete on-site.
Walls
We can cover the walls of our 200, 250, 300 and 400 cabs with familiar or exotic hardwood veneers. Our 500 has powder-coated aluminum framing with acrylic paneling, while our 100 has paintable medium-density fiberboard.
Ceilings
We can coordinate the ceilings to match your selected wood veneer wall. The 500 cab has an acrylic dome, and the 100 features a standard white laminate.
Floors
Commercial-grade laminate floors are standard. They come in wood-grain styles or unfinished oak.

You can choose a rounded metal handrail or wood, and there are three finishes available for hall stations and the operating panel.
