The original U.S. home elevator company, providing Bethesda, MD, with space-saving, code-compliant elevators for nearly a century.
Advantages of Our Custom Elevators for Homes
Inclinator pioneered residential elevators — our founder introduced the first home model — bringing in‑home mobility to American households. We build every residential elevator for Bethesda homes to order, which gives you the benefits of:
- Added market appeal: Attracts accessibility‑focused buyers and multigenerational families looking to settle down for the long term in the Bethesda area.
- Safe, reliable mobility: Standard features include gate monitoring, emergency stops and door interlocks. We use high‑quality materials and can add optional safety features like emergency battery power, depending on the drive system you have.
- Seamless access: Serves up to six floors, enabling convenient, independent movement throughout your Montgomery County home.
Our Straightforward Five-Step Process
We follow this process for every Bethesda home elevator project, so this is what you can expect from consultation to handover.
Step 1: Consultation & Planning
- Homeowner: Contact your local dealer and share any existing home plans or project details.
- Dealer: Conduct an onsite consultation (or architectural drawing review) to recommend the best drive system and hoistway layout for your space.
Step 2: Design Selection & Quote
- Homeowner: Select your design finishes, including cab style, gates, and accessories.
- Dealer: Provide a quote based on your specific selections.
Step 3: Technical Drawings & Permits
- Homeowner: Review and approve hoistway drawings with your contractor and secure necessary permits (if applicable).
- Dealer: Create hoistway drawings with all necessary requirements, and review with homeowner and contractor.
Step 4: Construction & Inspection
- Homeowner: Have hoistway built by your contractor to match approved hoistway drawings – including flush door requirements.
- Dealer: Coordinate with contractor during construction phase to ensure hoistway is being built per the drawing requirements and inspect hoistway after completion.
Step 5: Installation & Handoff
- Homeowner: Attain completed permit paperwork (if applicable), and attend the final review to learn how to operate and maintain your new elevator.
- Dealer: Install elevator, perform safety testing, demonstrate proper operation, and ensure that applicable elevator permit requirements have been satisfied.

Personalized Design Options
Before your home elevator installation, you can personalize your cab design, or we can leave it unfinished so you can do your own customization on-site:

Ceilings
While our 100 option has a white laminate ceiling and the 500 an acrylic dome, we can match all our other cab-style ceilings with your wall wood veneers.
Floors
You’ll get commercial-grade laminate with wood-grain finishes like cherry, walnut, maple and oak.
Lighting
We can install up to four overhead LED lights, or you can configure your own setup.
